Mrs. McGilvray's Class

Today we read Gingerbread Baby by Jan Brett. We decided this was a fantasy story so she was trying to entertain when she wrote this story. Jan Brett was also the illustrator of the book so we watched a video of her showing us how she drew the Gingerbread Baby for the book. We followed along and did a great job!

After that we made our own Gingerbread House!!!! Tomorrow we will begin working on writing a “how to..” and inform an audience of how they can make their own gingerbread house. This week is going to be full of fun Christmas activities that tie to our learning.

Today we were able to connect with a class from another state through Skype. We had no idea where the class was from until we went through a process of “yes” or “no” questions and used process of elimination to figure out where they were located. Here’s a few pictures of the process. Be sure you have your student tell you more! They had such a great time, I’ve promised them I will schedule another Mystery Skype date in January.
