Week 22
Spelling Words: carry, cent, city, place, circle, cute, nice, cooking, face, cold, candy, center
Reading: We are working on acquiring knowledge of folktales. Our goal is to be exposed to this genre and be able to write a folktale of our own.
Writing: We are continuing the writing process and working on making books. I love how the kids are applying what they’ve seen in other stories and applying it to their own writing! (Examples: bold words, italic words, chapter headings, taking risks with their pictures, etc.)
Math: We are using our knowledge of place value and working to subtract into the hundreds place with regrouping. This week we will focus on word problems that use subtraction with regrouping. We’re also working on taking the 2 smaller numbers and adding them together to make sure we get the bigger number. This is a great way to check our work!
Social Studies: In stations we are continuing our government study. During our research time we are focusing on the origins of Groundhog day and noting it as a tradition for those who celebrate it.
Dates: Feb. 14 is our Valentine’s Party 12:00-1:00
